Norman R. Aho
Longtime resident of Ashby; 82

ASHBY -- Norman R. Aho, 82, longtime resident of Ashby, died June 24, 2014, in the Keystone Center, Leominster, after a long illness.

Norman was born August 8, 1931 in New Ipswich N.H., son of Waino and Helmi (Muhonen) Aho. He was a graduate of Ashby High School, a member of the Ashby Congregational Church, a member of the American Legion Post #361, Ashby, and a life member of the Fitchburg Sportsman's Club. Norman retired from Select Engineering Co in 2009. Prior to this, he had worked for 33 years at Simonds Saw and Steel Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cribbage.

Norman is predeceased by his wife, Joan (Mason) Aho, who died in 2010.

He is survived by two sons, Steven and his wife, Melody Aho of Rindge, Edwin and his wife, Joan Aho of Fitchburg; two daughters, Corinne Rainville of Ashby, and Kathleen and her husband, Mark Leger of Fitchburg, one sister, Phyllis Witte and her husband, Henry of Melvindale Michigan; seven grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

AHO -- A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Ashby Congregational Church, New Ipswich Road, Ashby. Burial will follow the service in Glenwood Cemetery Ashby. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
