Robert H. Gorman
of Fitchburg, Navy Vet; 87
FITCHBURG -- Robert H. Gorman, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2014. His wife of 53 years, Helen "Kay" Gorman died in 2006.
He was born in Fitchburg in 1926 and was the son of the late Paul and Esther Gorman. He is survived by three daughters, Susan Gorman and her partner, Richard Mullin of Burlington, MA, Nancy Hosta and her husband, George of Easthampton, MA and Joanne Belliveau and her husband, David of Ashburnham; five grandchildren, Jason Belliveau of Ashburnham, Timothy Belliveau and his partner, Katie Sylvester of Fitchburg, Jennifer Hosta and her husband, Pele Siphandon of Laos, and Matthew Hosta of Atlanta, Georgia, several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He retired from NYNEX in 1986, after 30 years of employment. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his friends at both Monoosnock and Westminster Country Clubs. He enjoyed following local sports teams, especially his beloved Red Sox.
GORMAN -- Friends are invited to join the family on Tuesday, February 18th at 11:00 am at St. Bernard's Church at St. Camillus, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg to celebrate a funeral Mass. Burial will follow with Military Honors in St. Bernard's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School in memory of Robert H. Gorman, 45 Harvard St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
