FITCHBURG -- Robert William Marino, Jr. 56, of Fitchburg, died peacefully at home Wednesday January 16, 2013, after an illness. Robert was born in Fitchburg, December 21, 1956. He is predeceased by his father Robert W. Marino and his mother, Veronica (Tarr) Marino and was a life long resident. He leaves his loving sisters, Debra A. Arsenault, and her husband Robert Arsenault, of Fitchburg, Diane L. Marino-Richard and her husband Paul R. Richard, of Fitchburg, Roberta A. Tomer and her mate Peter Reed of Woburn, Vanessa J. Woods and her husband Alwin Woods of Fitchburg. His nephews and nieces, Justin E. Schotanus, Benjamin S. Schotanus, Jenifer M. Tomer, Shannon Beland, and Sarah Jones.
He also leaves behind grandnieces and nephews, and his former wife Eva-Marie Ferrebee.
Robert attended high school for the intellectually gifted, after which he enrolled in the Service.
He served 14 years in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1989 with the rank of Gunners Mate 1st Class and served on various ships including the USS Hunley. His honors included, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Meritous Unit Commendation and the Good Conduct Award.
His work included long haul truck driving, and working for various print shops in Fitchburg and Leominster.
He enjoyed writing, artwork, his guitar and being a devoted son to his mother & father.
He always gave a helping hand and will be sorely missed by his sisters and family.
MARINO -- Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation period on Saturday, January 26 from 10:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. followed by a prayer service at 12:00 P.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St. Military Honors will follow.
