Obituary Condolences

Former director, Fitchburg Public Library; 68

LEOMINSTER -- Sandra M. (Cravedi) Imprescia, beloved wife of James E. Imprescia of Leominster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in the presence of her loving family at UMASS Memorial, University Campus.

Sandra was born on January 10, 1944 in Fitchburg. Sandra was the beautiful daughter of Eino Lehto of Finland and Frances (Leone) Lehto of Fitchburg. She graduated Valedictorian St. Bernard's HS in 1961, achieved a Bachelor's in History from Boston College in 1965 and completed a Master's in Education from Boston University in 1972.

She began her career as a teacher at B.F. Brown Middle School in Fitchburg. From there, she joined the team of librarians at the Fitchburg Public Library, retiring as the library's Director in 2006.

Sandra lived her life for her eight children; 13 grand-children, and great-grandchild. She and her late husband, Robert A Cravedi, started a family of 6 children. Her family continued to grow when she married Jim and united their families. But that wasn't enough, and she adopted her precious rescue dog, Laney.

Along with her husband, Jim, she leaves behind a sister, Patricia Lehto of Fitchburg. She leaves behind Adam Cravedi and his wife, Eileen, Andrew Cravedi and his girlfriend, Tracey Cowden, Kristin (Imprescia) and her husband, Brian Dellechiaie, Jane Cravedi, Sarah Cravedi, Edward Imprescia and his wife, Tricia, Mary (Cravedi) and her husband, Teg Butler, and Elizabeth (Cravedi) and her husband, Mario Avila. She raised this clan of caring mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters with fierce passion and selfless love.

Standing barely 5 feet tall, Sandra will be remembered as the biggest person in the room. She commanded a presence with a mere look and the raising of an eyebrow. She and Jim enjoyed touring the world and she was passionate about education and the opportunity for everyone to learn.

Sandra made the most of her retirement, continuing to volunteer at the library and spending time with treasured friends. In the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks, Sandra was serving as an Esteemed Loyal Knight. She also proudly worked with the scholarship committee at the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials headquartered in CA.
