Winifred A. (Moyer) Donovan; 96

LEOMINSTER -- Winifred A. (Moyer) Donovan, 96, died Thursday, Feb. 6, in Leominster Crossing, after an illness.

Her husband of 40 years, Harry E. Donovan, died in 1989.

She leaves one son, Harry M. Donovan, and his wife, Beth of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Joan C. Cook, and her husband, David of Palmira, NY, Patricia A. Hoppe, and her husband, Nick of Rahoboth Beach, DE, and W. Elaine Murphy, and her husband, Dr. John Murphy of Lunenburg, MA; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Matthew A. Donovan in 2000, a brother, Richard Moyer and a sister, Dorothy Taylor.

Mrs. Donovan was a Registered Nurse for many years at Bergan Pines County Hospital, in Paramus, NJ, retiring in 1980.

She was a 1935 graduate of Coal Township High School in Shomokin, PA and a 1939 graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a Veteran of World War II, serving as an Officer in the U. S. Navy.

She was born in Akron, Ohio, on September 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Arthur B., and Caroline (Zimmers) Moyer, and lived in Leominster for five years, after living in New Jersey.

DONOVAN -- Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 11 a.m. in Farrow Funeral Home, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, PA. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shamokin, PA. There are no local calling hours. The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Ave., is assisting the family with Funeral arrangements.
