FITCHBURG -- Eleanor J. (Brigham) Burpee, 74, of Fitchburg and formerly of Gardner, passed away peacefully in her home on February 2, 2014 after a prolonged illness.

Eleanor was born on December 15, 1939 in Gardner, a daughter of the late Orrin and Alice (Adamson) Brigham. She was a graduate of Gardner High School. Her fondest memories are those of training and trading horses on the farm she was raised on. She was a talented equestrian and loved the day to day dealings on the farm.

She could often be found listening to and enjoying the music of Willie Nelson, her favorite artist. Eleanor was an animal lover, especially of birds; she loved her pet parrot Lucky very much.

She leaves her children, Christine Merritt of FL, Randy Simoneau and companion Pamela Hosley of Templeton, Philip Rahaim and wife Kathleen of Westminster, Keith Rahaim and wife Mary of Ashburnham, close friend and caretaker, Paula Daigle of Leominster; grandchildren, Shawn Simoneau, Shane Walker, Dustin Goodall, Daniel Simoneau, Philip Rahaim, Jr., Conan Rahaim, Misty Rahaim, Keith Rahaim, Jr.; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
