Marion G. 'Mardy' Madonia, 78

FITCHBURG -- Marion G. 'Mardy' (Levanti) Madonia, 78, died Saturday, April 5, at the Highlands Longterm Care Center, with her loving family by her bedside.

She leaves one son, Joseph R. Madonia Jr. of Fitchburg; two daughters, Donna Madonia-Forend, and her husband Pete of Plymouth, and Sheryl Aveni of Leominster; four sisters, Mary Lowe of Burlington, Gloria M. Mulcahy of Fitchburg, Evelyn Stropparo of Montville, CT and Paula Kinnunen of Littleton; five grandchildren, Chistopher, Marc and Michael Aveni and Brittany and Rebecca Madonia, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Madonia was employed for many years as a Bookkeeper at Carlson's Orchards, and later was a tax preparer at H & R Block. At the time of her retirement, she was a self-employed tax preparer.

Mardy was a life long member of St. Anthony di Padua Parish in Fitchburg, the Sons of Italy in America and the Serra Club. She was a 1953 graduate of Fitchburg High School. She enjoyed cribbage and bocce, and loved playing bingo at the Knights of Columbus, bowling and going to Foxwoods.

Mardy was born in Fitchburg, on October 20, 1935, a daughter of the late Peter J., and Rosanna (Spadafora) Levanti, and lived here all of her life.

MADONIA -- Her Funeral will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg.

Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.

Calling hours will be in the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 10, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

The Sons of Italy will have their ritual at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
