Former longtime resident of Lunenburg; 77

FITCHBURG -- Bella Reyes Belair, 77, many years a resident of Lunenburg, MA. passed away on the morning of April 4, 2014. She had been a resident at The Highlands Healthcare in Fitchburg for one and half years.

Bella was the wife of the late Vincent G. Belair, formerly of Lunenburg.

She was born in Pilago Quezon, Phillipines to Victoria Orfalas Reyes and Marcos Reyes on March 14, 1937.

Educated and trained as a registered nurse, Bella practiced for many years before coming to the United States to work for her brother-in-law, Ralph Kroll, owner of the former Crestfield Restaurant in Fitchburg. This led to a long career in the food service industry. She worked for her husband at the former Cappy's Bar and Grill in Lunenburg, and Cedar St. Rest Home in Fitchburg before retiring.

Bella spent her leisure time avidly playing bingo and card games with friends. She loved cribbage and Mahjongg, a game popular in the Phillipines.

She was particularly proud to become a naturalized United States citizen on August 2, 2001.

Bella will be missed by her stepdaughters, Karen Belair of Waltham, MA, Kim Belair of Leominster, Kyle Belair and her husband, Marc Wirtz of Pepperell, MA, and Karla Belair of Holiday, FL. She leaves her step grandchildren, Hannah Wirtz of Pepperell, and Jason Renda of Reading, MA. Her sister-in-law, Gail Karkutt and her husband, John of Hampton, N. H.

Bella is also survived by sisters, Evelyn Kroll and her husband, Ralph of Marrieta, CA, and Resurreccion Santiago of Palmdale, CA; and two brothers, Marcos Reyes,Jr. of Highland Ranch, Colorado and Francisco Reyes of Quezon City, Phillipines. Two nephews and three nieces.

BELAIR -- There will be no calling hours. A private interment will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery at a later date. Brandon Funeral Home is directing arrangements. Donations to the of Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 can be made in Bella's name.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff of The Highlands third floor and Summit Elder Care for always being there.
