of Westminster; 87

WESTMINSTER -- Beverly Ann (Handlin) Lothrop, 87, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, May 15, 2014, after an illness.

Beverly was the wife of the late John H. Lothrop who died October 12, 2010.

She leaves three sons, Christopher M. Lothrop, and his wife, Phyllis, of Chicago, IL, Jonathan D. Lothrop, and his wife, Karen, of Dover, and Stephen D. Lothrop and his wife, Leslie of Westminster; five grandchildren, Christopher M. Lothrop II, Patrick D. Lothrop, Jack Lothrop, Ryan Lothrop and Hannah A. Lothrop.

Beverly was born in Fitchburg, on September 2, 1926, the daughter of the late Matthew and Ruth (Burns) Handlin. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1944, continued her education at LaSalle College, receiving her degree in Special Education in 1946. Beverly was a member of the Westminster Historical Society, the Town Hall Reuse Committee, as well as a life-long member of St. Edward the Confessor Church.

She and John had a second home on the Cape for over 30 years; it was her favorite place to be. Her other favorite things were chocolate chip cookies, and jelly donuts. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

LOTHROP -- Calling Hours will be in the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Westminster, MA, on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church Street, Westminster, MA 01473. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knower and Ellis Roads, Westminster, MA. In lieu of flowers, Beverly's family asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Westminster Historical Society, P.O. Box 177, Westminster, MA 01473.
