LUNENBURG -- Aileen Sylvia (Suomala) Case, 77, died Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Highlands, after an illness.

She was the wife of the late Maurice J. Case who died October 20, 1977.

She leaves one son, Matthew J. Case of PA; one brother, Laurie Suomala, and his wife, Jean, of Fitchburg; one niece, Loretta (Overstreet) Pickens of Fredericksburg, TX; five nephews, Lane Overstreet, of Hunting Beach, CA, Lee Overstreet, of Louisville, KY, Mark Suomala of Fitchburg, Bryan Suomala, Sr., of Pepperell, and Steven Suomala, of Fitchburg, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was born in Fitchburg, on July 10, 1936, a daughter of the late Hjalmr and Marguerite (Carkkuff) Soumala, Aileen graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1954, were she was head Majorette for 4 years. She also graduated from Vermont Junior College, with am Associate of Science Degree in the Medical field.

She worked in several different positions as a Professional Secretary, Administrative Assistant, in Customer Service, in Human Resources, Insurance, Legal, Medical, Real Estate and Construction thru out her working career. Aileen retired in 2007 from the Fitchburg District Court after 17 years as a Legal/ Administrative Secretary. She was also a Licensed Notary Public. She was the owner of Collectibles Etcetera from 1975-2010.

Aileen was a past member of the Montachusett Chapter of Professional Secretaries Association, in 1990-1991, and served as Chair Person, in publicity and public relations. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar, the auto harp, piano, and the organ. Her great passion was for birds and cats.

CASE -- Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA. Funeral Services and Burial will be private. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in Aileen's name to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O. Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462 or to a favorite .
