ASHBY -- Claire Pauline (Laramee) Johnson, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her loving family on Monday, May 26, 2014, at Apple Valley Center, Ayer, MA, after a long period of declining health.
Claire was the eldest daughter of the late Henry A. Laramee and Alice L. (Hebert) Laramee, born at home on August 6, 1929. She was a graduate of the class of 1947 at Fitchburg High School, where she was a member of the Glee Club under the direction of J. Edward Bouvier.
On August 12, 1950, Claire married George R. Johnson, of Ashby. They were married for 50 years, living first in Fitchburg, and then moving to Ashby in 1957.
Claire is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra A. and C.G. Lower of Fitchburg; a brother, Robert E. Laramie and a sister, Lois A. Sheldon, both of Fitchburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Selinga and Phyllis Laramee, and seven brothers, Raymond, Paul, John, Alfred, David, Peter, and Thomas.
JOHNSON -- The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to a memorial service at 11 am on Saturday, May 31 at the Ashby Congregational Church, New Ipswich Road, Ashby, MA. Burial will follow the service at West Cemetery, West Road, in Ashby. Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, Fitchburg is assisting the family with arrangements. (www.aubuchon-moorcroftfuneralhome.com).
