Rose D. (Twiss) Duval
of Fitchburg, MA; 89

FITCHBURG, MA -- Rose D. (Twiss) Duval 89, of Fitchburg, MA. passed away peacefully Monday June 9, 2014 in her home with her family at her side.

She was born on November 26, 1924 in Greenville, N.H. the daughter of the late Frank L. and Diana (Pelletier) Twiss. She lived most of her life in Fitchburg, MA. Rose attended school at St. Bernard's High School and later worked as a nurses aid. She was also an excellent seamstress and worked for Margaret's Doll clothing and also at Fitchburg yarn. For many years she helped out at Tiny" Trees during the Christmas season.

Rose was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she volunteered as the cleaning lady in the rectory and convent one morning a week. She also baked her chocolate cake with walnuts for over 25 years for Wednesday night bingo. Then the next day she would return to the church to clean the hall. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at the church and was a Den mother for the Cub Scouts. She also enjoyed sewing for friends, doing alterations for family and friends, and working in her vegetable garden and flower garden. Her family wishes to thank the nurses and social workers form Health Alliance Home Health and Hospice for their valued assistance, and Fr. Emerito Ortiz of St. Francis of Assisi Church for his home visits.

Rose is survived by her son with whom she lived, David Duval, three daughters, Janet Barnaby of Leominster, MA., Carol Pillman and Joyce Redmon both of Fitchburg, MA., a grandson, Christopher Barnaby, two granddaughters, Jennifer (Pillman) Alejandro and Kaili Redmon of Fitchburg, MA., two great- granddaughters, Valerie and Vanessa Alejandro of Fitchburg, MA., a best friend and cousin, Priscilla Rivard of Fitchburg, MA. her sister Cecile Schober of Pleasant Grove, Alabama and many nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Duval and her brothers, Daniel and Francis Twiss.

DUVAL -- The funeral will be held on Thursday June 12, 2014 with a Mass at 12:30p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery. A calling hour period will be held on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 11a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. is directing.
