Obituary Condolences

Martha J. "Sam" (Anderson) Theriault
of Leominster; 60

LEOMINSTER -- Martha J. "Sam" (Anderson) Theriault, 60, of Leominster, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Leominster on September 15, 1953, a daughter of Rolf "Butch" Anderson and Eunice (Aston). Martha graduated from Leominster High School in 1971, and later attended the Monty Tech Nursing School. She worked for many years as a Physical Therapist at the Perkins School.

She enjoyed the truly simple pleasures in life; her garden was her oasis, a jar of homemade jelly doubled as a birthday present, and much joy came from reading a book. Halloween was always her favorite holiday, even bigger than Christmas. She will be fondly remembered by her son and grandchildren for her unique and thoughtful bedtime stories. It was typical for her to whisk them off to sleep through songs and stories about the journey of a special little hobbit called Bilbo or a Wizard that lived in a cupboard under the stairs. Fantasy and imagination were key to Martha, and anyone who knew her was instantly brought into her exciting way of thinking. She had a wonderful way of making her tales seem real, for both children and adults. She valued and loved her family above all else.

She leaves her husband of 36 years, Ronald Theriault; son, Andrew Theriault; extended children, Crystal Theriault and Peter Garcia; mother, Eunice Anderson; beloved grandchildren, Alexis and Jacob; sister, Gail Cunningham; nieces, Heather and Holly, and nephew, Willie.

Martha was predeceased by her father, Rolf "Butch" Anderson.

THERIAULT -- The funeral will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 20, from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
