Harold John Peterson, Jr.
formerly of Lunenburg, MA

Harold John Peterson, Jr. on Sunday, July 6, 2014, "Harry" died peacefully in his sleep at Anne Arundel Medical Center due to multiple systems failure. Born June 16, 1937, in Fitchburg, MA to Harold J. Peterson Sr. and Ellie Maki Peterson. He moved to Lunenburg, MA at age 10.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Meg Donnelly Peterson, daughter Susan Peterson Chittim (Ron) of Annapolis, MD and son Samuel T. Peterson (Karen) of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren Kyle Thomas Chittim, Samantha Elizabeth Chittim of Annapolis and Taggert John Peterson of Arlington, VA. He loved his family tremendously and spending time with them was his favorite past time.

Harry attended Academy Street Elementary School and Lunenburg Junior High and graduated from Lunenburg High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957 and was stationed at the Guantanomo Bay Naval Base in Cuba and the Naval Base at Argentia, Newfoundland. He worked for Simonds Saw and Steel for many years before transitioning to J.N. Peck Corporation - both in Industrial sales and during his retirement he worked for ten years at Home Depot in Annapolis where he made many treasured friends.

PETERSON -- Friends may visit at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146 on Thursday July 10th, from 1-3:00pm. There will be a Memorial celebration of life following visitation hours at the funeral home at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Harold J. Peterson Scholarship Fund which will be awarded to a deserving high school senior who will be the first in his or her family to attend college. Harry had a life-long love of reading and was a huge proponent of higher education for his family members and others.
