LEOMINSTER -- Lucille H. (Allen) Woodruff, 83, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 in her home.
She was born August 26, 1930 at Lucy Helen Hospital in Fitchburg, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Vilandry) Allen. She attended school from Kindergarten to Grade 8 in Fiskdale and moved to Fitchburg when she was nineteen.
After attending a dance, with her girlfriends, she met the love of her life and was married in the chapel at Fort Devens.
She and her husband lived at Fort Devens and were also stationed for a time in Africa and Hawaii. In 1969, they moved to Leominster. She worked at Foster Grant for a brief time, but was mostly a stay at home wife and mother.
Lucille was a member of the Military Wive's Bridge Club for over 40 years. She loved to play Bingo, doing crafts, crocheting, writing poems and was a talented artist using oil paints. She loved taking care of her grandchildren when they were young and seeing them have great-grandchildren. She cherished spending time with her family and close friends and her beloved dog, Clyde.
Her husband, Billy Joe Woodruff, died in 2005. She leaves her son, Jody J. Woodruff, Sr. and his wife, Joyce, of Westminster, her daughter, Stacia Garland of Leominster, her step-son, Jimmy Reneau and his wife, Beverly, of Houston, Texas, her brother, William Allen and his wife, Cynthia Guy-Allen, of Leominster, five grandchildren, April M. Hinrichs, Shane J. Woodruff, Travis J. Woodruff, Michael S. Woodruff, and Charles W. Garland, Jr. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jody J. Woodruff, Jr. in 2010 and her brother, Alfred Allen in 2000.
WOODRUFF -- The funeral will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St., Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
