Joanne "Jo" Sasseville-Gustafson
of Gardner; formerly of Leominster

GARDNER -- Joanne "Jo" Sasseville-Gustafson of Gardner, died unexpectedly at UMass Medical Center, Worcester, on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

Joanne was born on April 9, 1953 in Leominster, the daughter of Irene (Lavoie) and Norman Sasseville, Sr.

Joanne resided in Leominster, for all of her life until moving to Phillipston, in 2011, and more recently to Gardner, where she finished out her remaining days.

Survivors include her four children; James P. Gustafson and his wife Shelley Gustafson, of Gardner, Dawn M. Bjurling, and her partner David Gagne of Fitchburg, Mark A. Gustafson of Leominster, and Kristen L. Gustafson and her partner John Michael of Phillipston; six grandchildren, Ashley, Darcy, Joshua, Shawn, Kaytlen, and Dominick; two great-grandchildren, Maddisyn and Zayden; five sisters, Barbara Boudreau, and her partner, Steve, of Leominster, Norma Surovich and her husband Jim, of Leominster, Linda Morgan and her husband, Timmy, of Sumster, S.C., Karen Hebert and her husband Jeff, and Janice Hebert and her husband Scott, all of Leominster; two brothers, Francis Sasseville and his wife, Dee of Florida and Alan Sasseville and his partner Ed, of Las Vegas, N.V.; two sisters-in-law, Lynda Sasseville of Gilford, NH, Arlene and Butch Foley of Gardner; many nieces and nephews.

Joanne was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Norman "Skip" Sasseville Jr.

Joanne was the ultimate caretaker in life and in death, spending most of her life caring for children at the Dr. Franklin Perkins School in Lancaster, and more recently as a Home Nurses Aid for the elderly through the Gardner VNA.

Joanne was an avid lover of the beach, puzzles, reading, traveling, spending time with her family and acting like a kid with her grand kids. She will be deeply missed and forever loved!

SASSEVILLE-GUSTAFSON -- The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, with a Mass in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St., Leominster on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held from 4-6 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
