LEOMINSTER -- Gertrude M. (McCarthy) Parillo, 99, died August 1, 2014, at the Life Care Center of Leominster, of natural causes.

She was the wife of the late, Eugene Grammont, who died in 1960 and James A. Parillo, who died in 1992.

She leaves a step-son, Paul Parillo, and his wife, Mary, of Fitchburg, four grandchildren, Jane Alario, Elizabeth Bondoni, and her husband Ignacio, Edward Parillo, and his wife Marissa, and Charles Parillo; three great-grandchildren Isabelle, Anthony, and Lucia. She also leaves one sister Frances Cesanek, and her husband James, of Franklinville, NJ, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Charles, who was killed in World War II and awarded the Purple Heart.

She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Worcester and received her RN from the former Gardner Hospital of Nursing. She worked at the dental practice of Dr. Paul Marion for several years.

Gertrude was born in Worcester, on April 16, 1915, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Frances (Coffee) McCarthy, of Kilarney, Ireland.

Gertrude was a member of the Holy Family of Nazareth Church, in Leominster, She enjoyed gardening and travel.

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Leominster for the excellent care Gert received during her stay.

PARILLO -- A Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union St., Leominster, on Monday, August 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Lancaster St., Leominster, MA. There are no Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Gertrude Parillo to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
