Harold 'Chet' R. Williams Sr.
of W. Boylston, Navy & Army Veteran; 88

WEST BOYLSTON -- Harold "Chet" R. Williams Sr., 88, of West Boylston, died Friday, August 8, 2014, in UMass Medical Center, Worcester.

He was born on April 8, 1926, in North Adams, MA, was the son of Royl J. and Jane (Kennedy) Williams. Chet graduated from Drury High School in North Adams, MA.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, of WWII earning the WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, he attained the rank of Ship Cook. Mr. Williams was also a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class, and earned the Army of Occupation Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.

Chet worked for 33 years as a Food Service Director for Monty Tech High School before retiring in 1991, he then worked part-time to help train employees at Monty Tech in Food Service during his retirement.

He was a member of the VFW Post 6907 and the American Legion Post 462.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carole (LeDuc) Williams of West Boylston, his sons, Harold R. Williams Jr. of Cape Cod, John Ingerson of Fitchburg; his daughters, Bonnie Fisher and her husband, James, Sharon Burgess and her husband, Timothy, and Sally Dodge and her companion, Jeff Stuart, all of Athol, Linda Sproul and her husband, Richard of Stow, and Lisa Crawford of Leominster; his brothers, Robert Williams and his wife, Hazel of Penny Farms, FL, and Royl Williams and his wife, Susan of Lake Gaston, NC; his sister, Jane McConnell of North Adams; his 13 grandchildren, James Fisher Jr., Heather Bowes, Heidi Johnson, Joseph Williams, Trevor Burgess, Kyle Burgess, Dyllon Dodge, James Sproul, Matthew Sproul, Christopher Sproul, Ashley Sproul, Shane Crawford, and Haleigh Crawford; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, John Williams in 2012, his two sisters, Dorothy MaComber, and Sally Williams.

WILLIAMS -- Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster. Funeral Services and Burial with Military Honors will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 211 Glen Allen Rd., Winchendon, MA.
