FITCHBURG -- Mary T. Curran, 91, a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014, after a brief illness.
Mary was born in Fitchburg on March 14, 1923, the daughter of the late John J. and Bridget (Courtney) Curran. She graduated from Saint Bernard's Catholic High School with the class of 1942, and later attended Saint Vincent's School of Nursing.
Mary worked for the New England Telephone Company, retiring in 1984 as a Supervisor.
She was a parishioner of Saint Bernard's Church, and later Saint Anthony di Padua Church.
Mary was an avid golfer who belonged to the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg.
She was the beloved sister of John J. Curran and his wife, Mary L. (Clifford) of Fitchburg; loving aunt to Mary Jane Pelletier and her husband, Victor of Westminster, John C. Curran and his wife, Denise of Fitchburg, James T. Curran and his wife, Jane of Sterling, and Kevin M. Curran of Fitchburg; several grandnieces and grandnephews, and two great-grandnephews.
CURRAN -- The funeral will be held on Monday, August 18, with a Mass in Saint Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St., at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard's Cemetery. At Mary's request, there are no calling hours. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Saint Bernard's Elementary School, 254 Summer Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
