LEOMINSTER Salvatore J. DiSalvo, 93, died Tuesday, April 14, in Leominster Crossing Assisted Living, 1160 Main Street. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jean (Annaloro) DiSalvo. He was born September 9, 1915, in Lawrence, MA, the son of Antonio DiSalvo and Grace (Cavallaro) DiSalvo and lived in Leominster since 1954. Mr. DiSalvo along with his wife owned and operated the former Hayward Farms Restaurant on North Main Street until 1969. Sal was an avid organic gardener known to his family and friends for the fresh tomatoes and produce from his personally tended garden. He was very proud of the numerous creative wood sculptures, lamps and clocks, he made for his family. He leaves his son Anthony L. and his wife, Gail, of Bernardsville, NJ: His daughter-in-law, Beverly M. DiSalvo of Leominster. Also surviving him are two grandchildren, Leonard R. and wife Tammi J. of Gardner, and Paul S. and his fiancée, Lynn M. LaForce, of Leominster; and two great-grandchildren, Mia J. and Michael L. of Gardner. His son Leonard W. and his grandson, Michael L, predeceased him.
DISALVO A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a mass at 10 am in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 5-8 pm in the funeral home.
