81, of Leominster,
"Loving husband, father, and grandfather"

LEOMINSTER -- Joseph D. Spadafore, 81, of Leominster, was reunited Thursday, August 12, 2010, with his wife, Rachel, whom he missed dearly.

He was born June 30, 1929, son of Angelo and Carmela (LaLima) Spadafore, and lived in Leominster his whole life.

Joseph's school career was cut short after being severely burned at 9 years old, and he spent many years in the Shriners' hospital. But that didn't keep him from becoming a successful husband, father, and business owner. He owned and operated J. Spadafore & Sons Oil Co. He was always an active man, and enjoyed his family, and his business.

Some of his special joys were coffee with his best friend, Benny, almost every morning, family vacations in Ogunquit, Maine, and his garden. He also enjoyed spending time in NY with his daughter last summer.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rachel (DiNinno) Spadafore, in 2006, and his brothers, Samuel, Frank, Anthony, Louis, and Johnny.

He is survived by his daughter Carmela "Kim" Spadafore; his two sons, Joseph Spadafore and his wife, Dale, Kevin Spadafore and his wife, Tina; his son-in-law, Norman Gamache; and a special nephew whom he thought of like a son, David Spadafore.

Also surviving are his granddaughters, Genie-Rae Gamache and her fiancé, Jeff Richard, Diana and Andrea Gamache, Giavanna and Kiara Spadafore, Olivia, Rachele, and Lena Spadafore; and several nieces and nephews.

SPADAFORE -- The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St. Calling hours will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 15, 2010 in the funeral home.
