FITCHBURG -- Jimmie L. Walker, 62 of Fitchburg, MA. died peacefully, Friday April 22, 2011 in his home after an illness.

He was born on September 22,1948 in Shidler, Oklahoma the son Jesse and June (Davis) Walker. He lived in Wyoming where he attended and graduated from Cody High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and served during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan at Fort Buckner and then after the war ended he served at Fort Devens until he was honorably discharged in 1977 after nine years of service. He then moved to Fitchburg, MA. in 1977.

Jimmie attended Mt. Wachusett Community College where he earned his Associates Degree in Electronics. He was an electronic technician for 40 years. He worked for B. K Medical in Andover,MA. for 17 years and also for the former Gen-Rad Co. of West Concord, MA. He also worked for Primerica Insurance Co. as an agent representative for 5 years.

While living in Fitchburg, MA. Jim was a former member of Twin City Baptist Temple in Lunenburg, MA. where he served 16 years as a deacon of the church and taught Sunday school and Sound Ministries. He currently was a member of Monadnock Bible Baptist Church in Rindge, N.H. and was the Sunday School Superintendent there for the last 5 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Linda (Burton) Walker of Fitchburg, MA., his son Jimmie L. Walker Jr. of Fitchburg MA., 4 brothers Terry Walker of Salem Oregon, Carl "Luke" Walker of Aumsville, Oregon, Kenneth Walker and Anthony Walker both of Joplin, Missouri, 3 sisters Bonnie Wolz of Cote Wyoming, Betty Deaton of Joplin, Missouri and Holly Walker of Miami, Ohio, his grandson Jimmie L. Walker 3rd and several nephews and nieces.

WALKER -- A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11a.m. in Monadnock Bible Baptist Church, 210 South Woodbound Rd., Rindge, N.H. Interment will follow in Massachustts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon, MA. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6 until 8p.m. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to Monadnock Bible Baptist Church Missionary James and Joy Peragallo, P.O. Box 701, Rindge, N.H. 03461. The Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA. is directing arrangements.
