FITCHBURG -- Rose (Provencher) Guenette, 87, of The Gables, 935 John Fitch Highway, formerly of 340 Walton St., died Saturday, Oct. 8, in Henry Heywood Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1918, in Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Ernest and Virginia (LeMay) Provencher.
Mrs. Guenette worked for the City of Fitchburg in the Treasurers Office, Council on Aging and the License Commission retiring in 1983 after 22 years of service.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish. She was active in the PTA at St. Joseph’s School and St. Bernard’s High School and she was on the Board for the Council on Aging.
Mrs. Guenette leaves her three sons, the Rev. J. Andre Guenette of Bonita Springs, Fla., Peter Guenette and his wife Beth of Bourne, and James Guenette and his wife Karen of Leominster; her daughter, Ann Louise Stephens and her husband Bernard of Fitchburg; six grandchildren, Susan A. Norquist of Rutland, Lisa A. Stephens, John L. Guenette III, Jennifer L. Agnese all of Fitchburg, Jeffrey P. Guenette of Manhattan, N.Y., and Kaitlin R. Guenette of Bourne; two great-granddaughters, Erica Lynn and Alexa Nicole Norquist; nieces and nephews. Her husband of 56 years, J. Andre Guenette, died in 1997. She was also predeceased by her son, John L. Guenette in 2004, her great-granddaughters, Jill Lyn Guenette in 1975 and Jenna Rose Norquist in 2002, her sister, Blanche Leger, and brothers Alfred Provencher and Leo Provencher.
GUENETTE -- On Oct. 8, Rose (Provencher) Guenette, 87, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church with her son Reverend J. Andre Guenette celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
