Loving mother and grandmother; 84

TOWNSEND -- Dorothy (Machado) Pillsbury, 84, Townsend, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her home.

Her husband, Leon H. Pillsbury, died in December 1980.

Mrs. Pillsbury was born in Lowell on January 26, 1928, the only daughter of Flavio and Rose (Heathcock) Machado, and grew up in Lowell. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1946. She and her late husband built a home and raised two children in Tewksbury from 1954-1967. In 1967, they moved to Townsend.

Mrs. Pillsbury worked as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service for many years, retiring in 1980. She was a longtime member and former secretary of the Townsend Historical Society.

She enjoyed spending time with her two cats, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved needlepoint and crafting,
She leaves her son, Douglas C. Pillsbury and his wife, Diane of Westford; her daughter, Sandra L. Anderson and her husband, William of Shirley; her cousin, Marion R. Mello of Lowell; brother-in-law, Chester F. Pillsbury of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren, Sean Fleming of Northbridge, Wendy Collins of Townsend, Kendra Larkin of Fitchburg, Scott McGrath of Townsend, Taylor Pillsbury, Brooke Pillsbury amd Olivia Pillsbury of Westford; and several great-grandchildren.

She was the sister-in-law of the late Virginia Pillsbury Guerin and Charlotte Pillsbury.

PILLSBURY -- A graveside service will be held 1:15 P.M., Saturday, April 14th at Hillside Cemetery, Highland Street, Townsend. A visitation period will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. -- 1:00 P.M. at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, (Rte. 119) , ownsend Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Dorothy for her great-grandson, Joshua S. Collins to the Nashoba Learning Group, 10 Oak Park Drive, Bedford, MA 01730.
