FITCHBURG -- Antoinette E. (Freni) Kelly, 89, of the Gables, died Friday, September 28, 2012, at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester.
Antoinette was born in Boston, December 24, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (McFarland) Freni. She grew up in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge Latin High School. She attended Salem Teachers College and later graduated from Boston University.
During World War ll, she did volunteer work for the USO, Red Cross and the War Bond Drive.
Antoinette worked briefly at the Boston University School of Nursing and the Industrial School in Boston. She then later worked in the office of the Commissioner of Administration at the State House in Boston.
Antoinette's husband of 58 years, Fredson A. Kelly, passed away December 26, 2011. She leaves her cousin, Warren McFarland of Reading, MA.
Special thanks are extended to her primary care givers, Joyce LaFleur and Judy Brown, also special thanks to the staff of the I.C.U. at UMASS Medical Center for their very helpful and compassionate care.
