SHIRLEY -- Roger G. Pierce, 92, formerly of Davis Street, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Wingate of Sudbury, Sudbury, Massachusetts.

His wife, Virginia M. (Donovan) Pierce, died in 2005.

Mr. Pierce was born in Shirley, February 2, 1920, a son of Pete and Margaret (Love) Pierce, and was a lifelong Shirley resident.

For over 30 years, he worked as the pharmacy clerk at the former Brockelman Brothers Market in Shirley, retiring in 1987.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Shirley, as well as a member of the St. Anthony's Church Holy Name Society. He served as a volunteer to the Shirley Chapter of the American Red Cross, and participated in the Shirley Theater Group.

During WWII, he served in the Civil Ground Patrol where he frequently manned a watchtower in Shirley.

He leaves two daughters, Margaret Ringstad of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Nancy Caillouet of Hudson; two grandchildren, Katie Beals and Zachary Caillouet; and his very good friend "Joe".

PIERCE -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Anthony's Church, 14 Phoenix Street, Shirley. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Shirley.
