LEOMINSTER -- Lucille A. DeMattei, 91, formerly of Valley View Road, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, Littleton.
Miss DeMattei was born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 7, 1921, a daughter of James and Virginia (Fusco) DeMattei. A long-time resident of Brooklyn, she lived in Wethersfield, CT in the mid-1970s before moving to the Whalom District of Leominster upon her retirement in 1981.
She was a Leominster resident for over 20 years, and had been an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Leominster and worked for several years in the rectory there.
Miss DeMattei received her associate degrees in accounting from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY. She worked as a bookkeeper at AMF for 40 years.
She leaves her sister, Theresa D. Johnson, of Clinton; a nephew, Eric S. Johnson, and his wife, Sharon Johnson, of Bolton; a niece, Gayle Johnson Bowe, and her husband, Michael Bowe, of Shrewsbury; several other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews; and a great-grand-nephew.
She was the sister of the late Anthony R. DeMattei of Newtown, CT and the late James DeMattei of Anderson, SC.
She was a die-hard Yankees fan, even in the heart of Red Sox Nation, and leaves this world secure in the knowledge that her beloved Bronx Bombers were on their way to another championship.
DEMATTEI -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated
11 A.M., Tuesday, October 16th, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard. The family will receive family and friends from 9:15 AM -- 10:15 AM on Tuesday at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte. 2A). Ayer.
