FITCHBURG, MA -- Zachary D. Constant, 31, of Fitchburg, died suddenly on November 24, 2012, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after kayaking with one of his best friends in Princeton, MA. He was born May 6, 1981, the son of Denis O. and Janice L. (Boucher) Constant.

He was a graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School, Fitchburg, Class of 1999. He was an Ice Hockey Goaltender for four years while at St. Bernard's High School, and went on to attend Franklin Pierce College for two years. A Union Carpenter for the Local 107, Worcester, MA, Zach was also a jack-of-all-trades. Zachary continued goaltending for the Men's Ice Hockey League, and also played DEK Hockey. Zach enjoyed coaching his nephews in DEK Hockey and attending all of his nieces' and nephews' sporting events. He enjoyed snowboarding, camping, fishing, mountain biking and kayaking, especially with his fiance' Kelly, family and friends. Zach spent countless hours with his nieces and nephews who meant the world to him, and Zach meant the world to them. He was an amazing, hardworking man, and anyone who knew him, loved him. He was to be married to his fiance', Kelly L. Basilio, of Fitchburg, in February of 2013.

He is survived by his parents, Denis O. and Janice L. (Boucher) Constant, of Leominster, two sisters, Jolene N. Constant and her fiancee Daniel Paskell, of Leominster, and Aimee B. Murphy, and her husband, Jeremy of Leominster, his nieces and nephews: Isabelle Murphy, William Murphy, Garrett Murphy, Isaiah Constant, Natalie Constant, and Caeden Constant. His paternal grandparents, Omer and Doris Constant, of Leominster, many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. He also leaves his fiance's parents, David and Gail Basilio, of Fitchburg, and his fiance's brother, Adam Basilio, of Charlestown, MA.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Philip and Dorothy Boucher.

CONSTANT -- The Funeral will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. Callling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
