TOWNSEND -- Mildred A. Leader, 89, a former longtime resident of Brookline & Norwood, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at The Highlands, Fitchburg.
Millie Leader was born in Brookline, a daughter of William and Mary (Campbell) Leader, and resided many years in Brookline before moving to Norwood and then, in 2009, to Townsend. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Brookline, and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
She leaves her niece, Anne Gustafson and her husband, Thomas of Townsend; her nephew, Leonard Leader and his wife, Anne of Leominster; four grandnephews, Robert Leader, Daniel Leader, James Leader, Matthew Gustafson; and a grandniece, Emily Gustafson.
She was the sister of the late Dorothy Leader, Henry Leader, Mary Leader, and Leonard Leader, and the aunt of the late Barbara Leader.
For over 30 years, Millie worked as the office manager at the Brookline office of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1985.
LEADER -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 A.M., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School Street, Townsend. Graveside prayers will be offered Wednesday at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 990 LaGrange Street, W. Roxbury. A visitation period will be Wednesday from 8:30 -- 9:30 a.m. at the T.J.
