John J. Liddy
of Clinton; 81

CLINTON -- John J. Liddy 81, died Monday, January 14, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after an illness.

He leaves his wife, Alice M. "Dolly" (Coles) Liddy, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this June; their six children: Thomas M. Liddy and Karen Duffy and her husband, Kevin, all of Clinton, Mary Johnson and her husband, Phil, of Leominster, Sandy Feehrer and her husband, Sam, of Reading, PA, Colleen Smith and her husband, Steve, of Fitchburg, and Kevin J. Liddy and his wife, Jean, of Leominster; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two-year-old son, John J. Liddy, Jr., who died in 1966.

John was born in Worcester, and raised in Clinton, son of John W. and Delia T. (O'Toole) Liddy. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

For more than 30 years, John worked in the Wire & Cable Industry, as a Salesman. He began his career at ITT Suprenant, before working for Phalo Cable, and later, Mohawk Cable, retiring in 1998.

John was a member of St. John's Church, the American Legion, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 8, and a life-time member of the Leominster Eagles, #477. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed crossword puzzles. Though they will miss him dearly, John's family will in gaelic Bhi` Fa`thedh "keep smiling," just as he always encouraged them to do.

LIDDY -- Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. There are no calling hours. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Clinton Senior Center, 200 High Street, Clinton, MA 01510.
