FITCHBURG -- Marion I. Haudel, 86, of Fitchburg, died January 20, in Health Alliance Hospital Leominster surrounded by her children.

Marion was born on November 27, 1926, in Fitchburg, daughter of John and Ethel (Lapointe) Lidberg. She lived in Fitchburg her entire life until she moved to Leominster Crossings nine months ago. She attended St. Bernard's Catholic school and graduated from St. Bernard's High School in 1944. Marion was a member of the Friends of Coggshall Park, Friends of the Fitchburg Public Library, the Fitchburg Senior Center, the Fitchburg YMCA, and the St. Francis Whist Club.

Mrs. Haudel retired many years ago from the Fitchburg Social Security office. Prior to this she worked at General Electric, Shack's Clothing, and the Marion Rice Studio of Dance. In her retirement years, she organized and led trips and cruises. Prior to moving to Leominster Crossings, she loved her daily outings to the Fitchburg YMCA and her visits to the Fitchburg Senior Center. She was an avid knitter and card player. She loved going to indoor and outdoor concerts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Fritz Haudel, in April 2007. She leaves one son, Richard A. Haudel and his wife, Deborah, of Southborough; two daughters, Cynthia A. Haudel-McNeil and her husband, Brian McNeil, of Fitchburg, and Caralyn J. Caron and her husband, Roland Caron, of Scottsdale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Rebecca Caron of Longmont, Colorado, Jennifer Larkin and Abigail Caron of Goffstown, NH, and Frederick and Christopher Haudel of Southborough; three great-grandchildren, Bella and Preston of Colorado and Averie Larkin of Goffstown, NH; and two sisters, Ann Fisher and her husband, Paul, of New Hampton, NH and Janet McCue and her husband, Mark, of Fitchburg.

HAUDEL -- A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 25 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg.

Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 24.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's memory may be made to the Fitchburg YMCA, 55 Wallace Ave., Fitchburg, MA 01420 or the Fitchburg Senior Center, 14 Wallace Ave., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
