FITCHBURG -- John A. Daigle, 97, lifelong resident of Fitchburg, died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.

John was born on September 23, 1915, the son of the late Amedee and Eliina (Maki) Daigle. He attended Fitchburg High School, and was employed for over 35 years at the General Electric Company in Fitchburg. John was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War ll. He was an outdoorsman who passed his love of nature onto his daughters and grandchildren. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, candlepin bowling, and following the Red Sox. He also enjoyed the serenity of the fields and pond on the farm in which he lived.

John leaves his loving wife of over 73 years, Elvie M. "Wiita" Daigle, his daughters and sons-in-law, Donna J. Forgues and Leon Thomas of Fitchburg, Sandra E. Tisdale and Robert of Rindge, N.H. and Jeanne P. Gastonguay and Edward of Fitchburg. He will also be missed by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was the brother of the late Pearl Franciosi.

DAIGLE -- Visitation from 10 to 11 A.M. followed by Funeral services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
