TOWNSEND -- Raymond I. Magnusson, 90, of Townsend, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Hammond House, Worcester.
Mr. Magnusson was born in Fitchburg, February 14, 1922, a son of Albin Ivan and Elizabeth (Doerfler) Magnusson, and was a 1941 graduate of Fitchburg High School.
During WWII, he served his country in the United States Army.
For 50 years, Mr. Magnusson owned and operated M&M Auto Supply in Townsend, retiring in 2010.
Through the years, he enjoyed playing volleyball and entered tournaments at both the Montachusett YMCA and the former Turner Hall, both in Fitchburg. He was an avid bridge player as well as an accomplished ballroom dancer. Many years ago he attended the Messiah Lutheran Church in Fitchburg.
He leaves two sons, Steven J. Magnusson of Shirley, James S. Magnusson of Manchester, NH; a daughter, Elaine M. Morin of Lunenburg; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Magnusson of New Ipswich, NH, as well as his former wife, Emily D.(Jokelin) Magnusson Meehan.
MAGNUSSON -- Funeral arrangements and interment will be private. There are no calling hours.
