FITCHBURG -- Richard K. Lavoie, 50, of Fitchburg, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 in his home.
Richard was born in Leominster on April 20, 1962 a son of Leo P. Lavoie and Debbie M. (Gould) Schlingloff. He attended Oakmont High School, then for over 20 years, was a supervisor for the Delta Roofing Co. in North Billerica. He established his own roofing company, Rick's Roofing Co. out of Fitchburg. He loved Boston Sports and was a true friend to all. He was very giving of himself and reached out to all those in need. Rick ran the Hacker's Open, a golf tournament in memory of his step-father, George Anderson. This spring would have been the 25th year played at the Winchendon School Golf Course. He also loved boxing, and at one time, fought in Lowell at the Golden Gloves. He was an avid motorcyclist, who loved his Harley Davidson and riding throughout New England with his friends of F-Troop.
He leaves his mother Debbie M. (Gould) and her husband Horst Schlingloff of FL; His father, Leo P. Lavoie and wife, Patricia A. (Gallotto) Lavoie of Lunenburg; Close companion of 7 years, Cynthia L. Pearcy of Leominster; step sister, Laura E. Erickson, and her girls, Julie and Jamie; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rick was predeceased a brother, Michael P. Lavoie on August 31, 2000.
LAVOIE -- Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, March 8, from 4-7 PM and on Saturday, March 9, from 9-10AM. A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, March 9, at 10AM. Burial will be at a later date in Ashburnham.
