Beatrice C. Gaynord
of Fitchburg; formerly of Leominster, MA.
FITCHBURG -- Miss Beatrice C. Gaynord 94, of Fitchburg and formerly of Leominster, MA. passed away peacefully after a long illness, in Hillcrest Nursing Center on Sunday morning March 24, 2013.
She was born in Fitchburg, MA. on November 18,1918 the last daughter of Patrick W. and Margaret M. (Shalley) Gaynord, both immigrants from Ireland, who met and married in Fitchburg, MA. She was the last to carry the Gaynord name, and as the Irish would say "They were a grand family, altogether".
After graduating from St. Bernard's High School in 1936 she entered the Fitchburg District Court System as a secretary in 1938. In 1970 she was appointed to the position of Assistant clerk of Courts and remained in that position until her retirement in 1980.
She enjoyed spending her time at Cape Cod, and traveling abroad with her late sister Katherine and caring for her family and the children.
She was a former communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in West Fitchburg.
Bea is survived by her niece, Margaret 'Peg' Page and her husband Robert of Fitchburg, MA., her grand nephews , John "Jack" Page of Andover, MA., Robert and Philip Page both of Fitchburg, MA., and grand nieces, Elizabeth Vincent of Fitchburg, MA., and Katherine Page of Malden, MA. She also leaves many great-grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother John Gaynord, and three sisters, Katherine and Margaret Gaynord, and Evelyn Murphy, a niece, Elizabeth Murphy, a nephew John F. Murphy and grandniece, Margaret Page-Mulcahy.
Our family would like to thank each and every one of the staff at the Hillcrest Nursing Center, for their kindness and excellent care over the past nine years. They are wonderful people, and they did make a difference in our lives. Also, the group of those from Beacon Hospice who contributed so much over the last months.
GAYNORD -- Her funeral will be held on Wednesday March 27, 2013 with a Mass at 10a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camillus De Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg, MA.
A private burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a
