FITCHBURG -- William J. "Bill" Leary Jr., 66, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday afternoon.
He was born on January 19, 1947 in Somerville, MA, the son of William J. Sr. and Violet (Tucker) Leary. Bill attended and graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1964.
He worked for 37 years at Simonds Industries in Fitchburg, MA, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the South Fitchburg Social Club, South End National Club, and Fitchburg Sportsman's Club. Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed supporting his four grandsons at many of their sporting events, spending summers at Salisbury Beach with his family and friends, and would never pass up a good card game. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary, on cruises, and to many Carribean Islands, as well as visiting friends and family in Florida.
He was a member of St. Bernard's Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary (Morley) Leary; his two daughters, Traci A. Podrazik and her husband, Ed of Ashburnham, MA, and Lynne M. Delmonico and her husband, Anthony of Torrington, CT; four grandchildren, Logan and Jack Delmonico, and Jared and Eric Podrazik; two brothers, H. Wayne Leary and his wife, Joann of Ashburnham, MA, and Shawn Leary of Gardner, MA; his cousin, James Gavin of Holyoke, MA; and many nephews and nieces.
LEARY -- His funeral will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camillus De Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg, MA. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. Flowers may be sent or donations may be sent to the
