ASHBURNHAM -- Steven J. Niemi, 52, of 46 Russell Hill Rd., Ashburnham, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Fitchburg on June 22, 1953, and lived in Westminster before moving to Ashburnham 32 years ago.
Mr. Niemi was a longtime employee of the Cerner Corp of Kansas City, Mo., working out of his home in Ashburnham, but traveled extensively for work. For 25 years, he was employed with Digital Equipment Corporation.
He was a graduate of Oakmont High School, class of 1971, a member of the Aurora Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M. in Fitchburg and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Niemi is survived by his beloved wife, Denise (Williams) Niemi, with whom he would have celebrated 34 years of marriage next month; two daughters, Michelle L. Losurdo of Winchendon and Lisa M. Christian of Fitchburg; his parents, Waino and Roxcine (Andreasson) Niemi of Westminster; one brother, Wayne D. Niemi of Winchendon; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy T. Andreasson of Gardner; two granddaughters, Marisa Losurdo and Kaitlyn Losurdo, both of Winchendon; and several nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Alex Ufema, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Westminster, will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Westminster.
