Bettina Brooks Begun
1931 -- 2013

SHIRLEY -- Bettina Brooks Begun, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 11, 2013.

She was born in Fitchburg, on May 10, 1931, daughter of Sara Louise Corliss Brooks and Dr. Holland Keith Brooks. Tina graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1949, and continued her education at the Massachusetts School of Physiotherapy, earning her certification as an X-Ray Technician.

During her career, she was employed at various facilities including Nashoba Hospital in Ayer, for Dr. Pickwick, and John Fitch Radiology, retiring in 2000.

She married Robert S. Begun on March 17, 1955 on Fort Devens.

For most of her life she enjoyed skiing and passed that love on to her children. She also loved to knit, water-ski, and was an avid candlepin bowler, belonging to a Shirley Women's League. Tina also loved to "cruise" with her sister, Carolyn Wisel. Tina spent her summers at the family's camp on Lake Monomonac in Rindge, NH, where she was active in the Monomonac Lake Sailing Association.

She leaves behind her son and daughter, H. Keith Begun and Pamela (Begun) Torres, both of Shirley; her stepson, Robert P. Begun and his family of Elliot, Maine; her grandchildren, Michael Torres of Chicago, IL, Jessie Torres and her fiancé, Mat Ladroga of Milford, NH, Daniel Torres of Shirley, MA; and her beautiful great-granddaughter, Neela Ann Torres Ladroga who was a joy in her life; her sisters, Carolyn Louise Brooks Wisel of Fitchburg with whom she shared many adventures and Mona Ferraro of Marlborough; and four nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Begun in 1989.
