Kenneth V. 'Stoney' Stone Sr. -- Dedicated husband, father and grandfather ~ A Friend To All ~ -- WESTMINSTER -- Kenneth V. Stone Sr. "Stoney", 79, of Westminster, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2013 in Health Alliance Hospital Leominster.. Ken was born in Townsend, on July 23, 1933, a son of the late Harry and Sarah Bernice (Leonard) Stone. He attended schools in Lunenburg and Ashby before graduating from Ashby High School in 1952. Following his graduation, Ken joined the U.S. Army and served for three years during the Korean Conflict. Ken worked as a salesman/truck driver for RMP Parts Rebuilders for over 30 years. After retiring from RMP he drove for Need a Lift for many years and volunteered as a crossing guard at St. Anthony's School in Fitchburg. He was very involved in church ministry for many years at the Assembly of God Church in Fitchburg, New Life Church in Leominster and Mustard Seed Faith Fellowship in Leominster. He loved time with his family and enjoyed meeting new people. Ken was a person that always had a story for everyone and a stranger was never a stranger for very longpeople became friends of Stoney very quickly. He leaves his wife of 58 -- 1/2 -- years Constance "Connie" (Leiter) Stone whom he married on January 1, 1955. They were blessed with three children, Kenneth V. Jr. and wife, Cyndy of Leominster, Harry Allen and wife, Linda of Westminster with whom they lived and Rhonda (Stone) Richard and her husband Thomas of Townsend. They had six grandchildren, Kenneth V. Stone, III, Kristopher Stone, Michelle Kennedy-Stone, Allen Stone, Stephen Richard and Mathias Richard and eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigale, Madelynn, Olivia, Gavin, John "Jack", Addison and Dillon; his brother, Harry Stone of Stafford Springs, CT and his wife Ruth; his sister, Theodora Keefe of Fitchburg, MA; his sisters-in-law, Judy Stone of Florence, MA, Carolyn Foose of Mechanicsburg, PA, Marydel Leiter of Seattle, WA; and several nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Ken is predeceased by his sister, Shirley Augsburger, his brothers, Roger and Dennis Stone. The family of Kenneth Stone Sr. wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Health Alliance Hospital specifically in the CCU. STONE -- His funeral will be celebrated on Friday, June 28, at 10:30 AM in the New Life Church, 834 Main St., Leominster with the Pastor Jack Rix of Mustard Seed Faith officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place on Friday afternoon at 2 PM in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St. in Winchendon. A calling hour will be held in the church on Friday morning prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. The Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the , 85 Astor Ave., Ste 2, Norwood, MA 02062-5040.
