Beatrice (LaFrenier) Cowdrey Moeckel of South Ashburnham; 94 -- SOUTH ASHBURNHAM -- Beatrice (LaFrenier) Cowdrey Moeckel, 94 of South Ashburnham, died peacefully July 15, 2013 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, MA. Beatrice was the widow of Herbert Cowdrey who died in 1961, and Charles Moeckel who died in 1996. Beatrice was born in Winchendon, MA, March 28, 1919, a daughter of the late Edgar and Helen (Gooley) LaFrenier. Mrs. Moeckel was a communicant of St. Anne's Parish in South Ashburnham. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, gardening, social activities, and spending summers in Maine. Beatrice was a care giver to many people through the years. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Freeman and her husband William of Fitchburg, Judith Greskovic and her husband William of Ashburnham, one son; David Cowdrey of Ossian, In., two step children; Nancy Scalzulli of Florida and Roy Moeckel of, CT, five grandchildren, Karen Brackett, Tracy Conley. Gail Villani, Jody Cowdrey, and Kevin Tripp, one brother; Kenneth LaFrenier of Winchendon, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Beatrice was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. MOECKEL -- Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Beatrice's life by gathering for a calling hour in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, MA on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 9-10AM. A funeral Mass will follow in St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham beginning at 11AM. Rev. John E. Horgan will celebrate the Mass. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Glenallen St., will follow. -- In lieu of flowers, donations in Beatrice's memory may be made to the St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham, MA 01430.
