FITCHBURG -- Robert H. "Bucky" Cunningham III, 78, of Fitchburg passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
Bucky was born in Fitchburg on May 21, 1935, a son of the late Robert H. Cunningham, Jr. and Elizabeth (Lorian). He was a 1953 graduate of Fitchburg High School, where he played football, baseball, basketball, and ran track. Bucky worked for the Fitchburg Housing Authority for 26 years. He also worked for the P. Madonia Construction Co., and H.P. Hood.
Bucky belonged to the Fitchburg Social Club and was a former member of the Fitchburg Elks. He loved listening to Jazz music, spending time at York Beach in Maine and gardening.
He leaves his wife Beatrice Margot (Clifford) Cunningham; a daughter, Heidi M. and her husband Greg Larkins of Palm Beach Shores, FL; his sons, Robert H. Cunningham, IV and wife Aaran of Gardner and Marc C. Cunningham of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Rebecca J. Guy, Courtney C. Berndt, and Tiffany M. Cunningham.
Bucky was predeceased by his two sisters, Ruth Pierce and Evelyn Lamothe.
CUNNINGHAM -- The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Tuesday, August 20, with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Bernard's Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday, August 19, from 4-6 PM.

Aunt Margot, Heidi, Bobby, and Marc, I remember so much of the distant past, fond memories of when the family was all together. I was so shocked and so sad to hear of Uncle Bucky's passing. He's with my mother now and Ruth, Grammy and Grandpa. God bless all of you and give you strength. I love you.

I have a lot of great memories of our time with the Cunningham family; including building parade floats, and tennis ball cannons to name a few. Uncle Bucky always had a smile on his face. Auntie Margot, Heidi, Bobby and Marc please accept my heartfelt condolences for the loss of Uncle Bucky.
