Alice Petalas Simcoe

FITCHBURG -- Alice Petalas Simcoe, formerly of Fitchburg, MA, died peacefully on September 18, 2013, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Simcoe was born on May 1, 1918, and is a graduate of Fitchburg High School and the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing.
During World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Lieutenant in the Navy Nurse Corps, in an active-duty capacity.
Mrs. Simcoe was very active in the community, having directed the choir at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and was involved in various committees and groups, as well as being an avid golfer and bridge player. Mrs. Simcoe led a very interesting life, having lived all over the world while accompanying her husband in his professional endeavors.
Mrs. Simcoe was married to her husband, Hugh S. Simcoe Jr., for nearly 60 years, and had two sons, Hugh III, and Samuel, and had six grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Alex, Carrie Ann, Sam, Eric, and John. She also leaves a sister, Georgia Fromknecht.
She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and will be truly missed. Mom is with God now, and may she rest in eternal Heavenly peace.
SIMCOE -- Services for Mrs. Simcoe will be on Tuesday, September 24th, at 11 AM in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg. Visitation in the church will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 11 AM. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery following the church service. The Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
