Arthur S. Griffith, Jr.
of Leominster, Army Veteran; 71

LEOMINSTER -- Arthur S. Griffith, Jr., 71, of Leominster, died Friday, April 11, 2014, in Leominster Hospital.

Arthur was born in Brockton, MA on September 21, 1942, a son of the late Arthur S. and Hazel (Seeley) Griffith. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He served for over 20 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class, working as a Club Manager. In 1985, he served a one year term as the Commander of the American Legion Post 294 out of Pemberton, NJ. For six years, Art was the Senior Vice Commander with the Korean War Veterans of America. He was the Chairman of the Fundraising Committee for the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter #299, one year raising as much as $250,000. From 2010-2013, Art was the National Director of the Korean War Veterans of America.

One of his proudest moments was laying a wreath with the President during the Memorial Day celebrations in Washington DC, where he rendered honors with the Korean War Veterans at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and both the Korean and Vietnam War Memorials.

He leaves his wife, In Hwa (Kim) Griffith of Leominster; children, Rick Griffith of Bullhead City, AZ, Dorothy Aeppli and her husband, Rick of St. Augustine, FL, Kenny Griffith and girlfriend, Kayla Hamilton of Fitchburg, and Kevin Griffith of Leominster; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Allan Griffith of Danvers, and his two sisters, Patricia Maxim of Middleboro, and Elaine Morgan of Randolph, VT; many nieces and nephews.

Art was predeceased by his brother Richard Griffith.

GRIFFITH -- The funeral will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Tuesday, April 15 at 11:30 A.M. Burial with military honors will follow in the MA Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 14 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Korean Veterans of America Inc. Chapter #299 c/o Robert Joy 156 Plymouth Ave., East Wareham, MA 02538.
