
Marjorie Elam Adams FLORENCE - Marjorie Guthrie Elam Adams, 80, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at the Presbyterian Home in Florence. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, in the Presbyterian Home Chapel in Florence, with Dr. Barry L. Jenkins and Rev. Chris Handley officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbia, SC, at 3:30 p.m., directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. She was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Helen Wheat Guthrie. Mrs. Adams spent most of her adult life in the Columbia area where she owned and operated a gift shop for several years and was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd Elam, and son, Chuck Elam, in 1971. She later married Elzie B. Adams of Winnsboro, who passed away in 2006. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro where she sang in the choir. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home of SC, 2350 W. Lucas Street, Florence, SC 29501.
