Betty Jane Hall FLORENCE - Mrs. Betty Jane Hall, 85, widow of Robert S. Hall, passes away peacefully Saturday, November 17th, 2012, in Laurel Gardens in Florence. Mrs. Hall was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on December 17th, 1927. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mrs. Hall began her career in radio and television having her own radio show "The Betty Jane Show." She also worked with Dick Clark on American Bandstand. Later, with the commitment of family, Mrs. Hall began her teaching career, teaching English for many years in Sumter. When she retired, Mrs. Hall was very active volunteering in the community. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Sumter where she was a lay reader and served on the alter guild. Mrs. Hall's surviving family includes her children, Chris Hall and DruAnne Hall; and grandchildren; Erin Lovelace, Davy Hall, and Andrew Hall. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Hall. A memorial service will be held at ten-thirty a.m., Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 in the Memorial Garden at the Church of the Holy Comforter, with the Reverend John Barr officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Sumter, 1140 South Guignard Drive, Sumter, South Carolina 29150. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
