Wayne Hatchell DARLINGTON - Kenneth Wayne Hatchell, age 74, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, April 29th at Central Baptist Church with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery with military honors, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born September 18, 1937 in Darlington County, he was the son of the late Kenneth Hyman Hatchell and the late Nell Angeline Allison Hatchell Walton. Wayne served his country in the Unites States Air Force and was a member of the VFW and was an Adjutant in the American Legion. He retired as a manager for GoodYear in Darlington and after that found his new passion, volunteering at The Lord Cares, where he also served as a board member. Mr. Hatchell enjoyed spending time with his friends in the "rummy club or Old coots club". He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Kenny (Vicki) Hatchell of Darlington, a daughter, Shawn (Dennis) Armstrong of Greer, granddaughters, Jennifer Hatchell and her fiancÂ‚ Shawn Stom and Jessica Hatchell, two step-grandsons, Adam Armstrong and Ryan Armstrong, a sister, Deloris H. Booth of Charlotte, and a very special friend, Brenda Broach of Darlington. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, C.F. Walton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kenny and Vicki Hatchell, 1539 Cashua Ferry Road, Darl-ington.
