Chapman, Anna*
Anna Chapman Merritt Island, FL Anna "Ann" Naum Chapman, age 90, passed away peacefully February 20, 2015. Although of Albanian decent, she lived her first 41 years in Syracuse, N.Y. She loved music, loved to dance the jitterbug and even won several contests as a young woman in Syracuse. During WWII she was a riveter of war damaged fixed wing aircraft at Rome Airbase in NY. She learned to read blueprints and was thin enough to be the "Blocker" in the fuselage of the aircraft.  In the mid sixties she moved to Florida, first to Cocoa Beach, then to Merritt Island before returning to school and earning a college degree. Upon graduation she went to work for United Space Boosters, Inc. on the Space Shuttle Program. After several contractor changes, she retired from Lockheed Space Operations in 1993. One of her most cherished memories of her retirement party was having her picture taken in the Co-Pilot seat of Space Shuttle Discovery. She is best remembered as a great Mother with a wonderful sense of humor, a woman of faith, perseverance, and determination. Above all, Ann was known as one who always did the right thing no matter the personal cost. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Harold Chapman, and leaves her daughter DaLaine Chapman, her son Dan Chapman and grandson Alex Chapman. Services are pending.
