Petersen, Kathleen*
Kathleen R. Petersen Brevard, FL Kathleen Russell Petersen was born in Washington D.C. in 1918. She went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2015. She was the youngest of five children; all raised by their Mother. Like one of her sisters she was sent to England to live with relatives in Rugby. She attended college there but came back after two years. During World War II, she served in an Airborne unit with the U.S. Army. Travel and learning about how other people lived interested her throughout her life. She lived in Florida, Nevada, Mississippi, Oregon and England while married to Bill Petersen and going where the U.S. Air Force sent them. She raised two boys, Russ and Robin; giving them adventures in all of those states and in her family home of England. She took Russ to Holland and traveled all over eastern England and down to London, taking the boys and showing them how the English lived in small towns and in the countryside. She taught her sons to sew, iron and cook and made sure they went to college. One became an engineer for NASA and later an attorney. The other studied accounting and became an attorney. She and her Husband, Bill, loved to visit the Florida manatees in Crystal River, Florida. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill, her son Russell and daughter-in-law Melissa, her son, Robin, three grandchildren, Shae, Kirk and Cassidy and nieces and nephew. Private services will be held at a later date.
