Barbara Ann (Bobbi) Hosley, 75, of Titusville, Florida, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 of natural causes.
She was born to the late Conrad C. Dobbs and Annie Ruth Outlaw Dobbs in Newark, New Jersey on April 4, 1939.
Bobbi grew up and graduated from high school in New Jersey. She then attended the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas where she studied Liberal Arts and where she met her future husband, David L. Hosley, Sr. While attending College of the Ozarks, Bobbi and David were crowned as the King and Queen of hearts at the College's Valentine's Ball. Due to an eye disease that Bobbi acquired, she was unable to graduate from college and she returned home to New Jersey where she worked at Bamburger's department store and at Western Electric Company.
After their marriage in New Jersey in June of 1960, Barbara and David lived in Iselin, NJ. Shortly thereafter, David entered the United States Air Force and Bobbi and David lived in Texas, New Jersey, Alabama, Arizona, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida finally retiring after 28 years in the Air Force. They were married 54 years and had two children.
She volunteered for several different church ministries over the years that provided food and clothing to the homeless and those less fortunate people in her local area. She also volunteered with the Parrish Medical Center Auxiliary in Titusville, Florida for ten years. She loved helping people, going to the beach and raising Boston Terriers. Her other interests included participating in Bible study groups and Women's ministry. All of those around here were inspired by her kind and gentle spirit and her giving nature. She has left behind many friends and family, whose lives are forever changed by her existence.
Her beloved spouse, Dr. David L. Hosley, Sr., retired USAF Colonel, survives her. She is also survived by her children: daughter Dori Hosley Swift and son-in-law Andrew Swift of Cocoa, FL and son David L. Hosley Jr. and daughter-in-law Alesia Blackwell Hosley of Huntsville, AL; and her grandchildren: Lauren Swift of Church Hill, TN, Andrew Swift of Las Vegas, NV, Jacob Swift of Cocoa, FL, Matthew Hosley and Walker Hosley of Huntsville, AL.
A "Celebration of Life" honoring Bobbi will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Park Avenue Baptist Church located at 2600 Park Avenue, Titusville, Florida, 32780. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM, The Service will be from 2-3 PM and a Reception at the Church will follow.
