Barbara Jean Davis, 81, of West Melbourne, FL and Battle Creek, MI went peacefully to meet her Savior on Thursday, January 3, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at home. Born and raised in Illinois, she moved to San Francisco, CA during WWII when her father was in the Navy. After moving to Pontiac, MI as a teenager, she met the love of her life, married him, and they raised four children together in Battle Creek, MI.
Barbara was a loving, giving, kind, gentle, and caring person. She had infinite faith in God, found solace in her religion, and was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. Many people and animals benefited from her enormous compassion as she interacted in her teaching job, volunteering, and sharing with her family, friends, church, and the underprivileged.
Barbara was preceded in death by Eulice Davis, her beloved husband of 58 years, and her parents Juanita and Seybourne Pankey and brother Jack Pankey, all of Pontiac, MI.
She will be forever missed by her children, Wayne Davis, Sharon Davis, and Philip Davis of West Melbourne, and Brenda (Robert) Davis-Avila of Yuma, AZ; her grandchildren, Carmen Davis, Marialee Gibeault, Gloryjean Salitrero, and Alexa Davis; great-grandchildren, Seamus Gibeault and Charlotte Gibeault; brothers, Jerry Pankey and Dale Pankey of Pontiac, MI; and many nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9th in the Florida Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Rockledge with visitation at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daily Bread or the Florida Wildlife Hospital and Sanctuary, both in Melbourne, FL.
